Medical Mission Trip with the NHF
Our Medical Mission Trip with the Nigerian Health Care Foundation In July 2017, UIUCares joined the Nigerian Healthcare Foundation Inc. (NHF) in their annual mission trip to Imo State, Nigeria. Mr. Ezedube Eze a nursing home administrator, Ms. Uzoma Uwakah, a nurse, Mrs. Uche Ejedoghaobi, a pharmacist and Dr. Onyinye Igbokwe, a physician were excited to join NHF in their mission trip. During the two-week medical mission we saw over 1500 people – 95% are individuals from remote areas who would never have otherwise received medical attention because it is either inaccessible or costly. International Student Scholarship Fund 2017
UIUCares is thrilled that we could tackle another one of our key areas, Education. We learned of the struggles that our international students have with paying their full tuition, particularly with the ever-fluctuating value of the Naira. In 2017, we were excited to launch our first UIUCares International Student Scholarship fund. The scholarship was for $1000 and was open to any Igbo student who is enrolled in a US school and has a G.P.A of 3.5 and above. This year we are excited to partner with Bridge International Academies in order to sponsor a full year of education for some students! A sponsorship of just $140 covers the academy fees for a Bridge pupil for their entire academic year, as well as a new school uniform!
